Optimizing the Future,
Bit by Bit.

I work on a real-time C++ pricing engine for auto dealers: adding product features and making it faster. Along the way I drove its Linux migration (75% faster startup), moved its AWS infra from public to private networking, and replaced Jenkins with GitHub Actions. 6+ years in production C++.

Current project · Jun 2022 – Present

One Platform. Five Kinds of Engineering.

For the last four years I've worked on one product: a C++ platform that auto dealers use to price deals in real time. Over that time I've owned very different work on it, from business logic and an OS migration to cloud security and delivery pipelines.

Real-Time Auto Finance Payment Platform

Scalable C++20 microservices that calculate lease, finance and cash payment deals while a customer is at the dealership. Every quote has to apply the right taxes, lender rules and deal options, and the platform handles millions of high-concurrency requests.

01

Product Engineering

Business logic for real-time deal pricing: custom tax computations based on both dealer and customer location, with jurisdiction-specific city, county and state rules; lender configurations per deal type; and complex scenarios like conditional incentives, trade-ins and down-payment variations. Tuned the services to cut deal turnaround time so dealers close faster.

02

Windows → Linux Migration

Moved the legacy Windows system to Linux: decoupled Windows dependencies, then drove the final phase that removed Windows-only code and builds for good.

20 min → 4 min startup
03

Private Cloud Networking

Owned a security remediation end to end: prototyped ALB vs NLB, wrote the design and runbook, then built private load balancers, Route 53 failover and Lambda health checks in Terraform, with a public/private toggle for safe rollout. Validated in every pre-production environment across two regions.

04

Jenkins → GitHub Actions

Retired the last Jenkins pipelines: builds, tagged releases and deploys on GitHub Actions, scheduled jobs on ECS Fargate with EventBridge Scheduler, plus multi-region deploys and PR automation that notifies reviewers on Slack.

Security & Reliability

Added static security scanning to CI so issues are caught before release. Introduced clang-format and graceful shutdown on signals, and ran a spike on adding a Redis cache via redis-plus-plus to scope what would need to change.

20 Minutes → 4 Minutes.
That's the Power of Modernization.

The biggest win on the platform so far. I was a core engineer on migrating the long-lived C++ code base from Windows to Linux, and drove its final phase through to a seamless production rollout. It wasn't just about moving code; it was about redefining how fast and how reliably the system runs.

75% Reduction in Startup Time

Cut down from 20 minutes to just 4.

Zero CPU Spikes

Complete elimination of spikes during restarts.

Modern Architecture

C++20, open-source tooling and CI/CD on a single platform.

  • Removed Windows-only code, build configurations and binaries for a lean single-platform code base
  • Moved builds to CMake presets with a shared Docker development image

Side Projects

Free tools I built because I wanted them to exist. Both run entirely in the browser, with nothing to install and no data sent anywhere.

rkformat .rkf

Markdown, plus its images, in one file you can just send someone.

A .rkf file holds a Markdown body and every image it references. No sidecar images/ folder, no broken links in the email, no base64 bloat in the text. The file grows by roughly the true size of the pictures, and images stay images; they are never converted to text.

  • ZIP container like .docx and .epub: rename to .zip and it still opens as plain Markdown with working links
  • Images stored as raw bytes, de-duplicated by SHA-256, with integrity checks and byte-identical output
  • Python library + rk CLI, an installable offline web editor and a VS Code extension
  • Hardened readers: path-traversal and zip-bomb limits, magic-byte sniffing, sanitized HTML

Resume Builder

A free, ATS-friendly resume builder. Your data never leaves your browser.

Fill in the sections and watch a print-ready page update as you type, then download a PDF. No sign-up, no server, no tracking.

  • Two-column or single-column templates with accent colours, fonts, A4 or US Letter, and margins
  • Reorder, rename, hide or move any section between columns, with undo
  • Import and export JSON, including the open JSON Resume format
  • Plain-text output that ATS software can read, plus built-in ATS tips

Professional Journey

Staff Engineer

May 2025 – Present
Nagarro · payment platform
  • Own large pieces of the platform end to end, from spike and design doc to deployment in every environment.
  • Took the Linux migration live with a runbook the team followed and no pager incidents, then moved to private cloud networking and off Jenkins.
  • Share AWS, CI/CD and AI-assisted development practices with the team.

Earlier Projects

Firmware, IoT and backend work from my first years at Nagarro.

Firmware

Unified Firmware Architecture

Merged three device firmware code bases for a handheld healthcare device into one modular repo, built per variant with preprocessor flags. Wrote the HAL for each subsystem and ported the firmware from STM32L1 to STM32L0 microcontrollers.

Thermal Scanning & Mask Detection

Contactless office entry built for COVID: forehead temperature from a thermal camera, face-mask detection and employee checks with encrypted QR codes. Started on Raspberry Pi, moved to NVIDIA Jetson Nano for performance.

Backend

Virtual Consultation Platform

Multitenant system where people consult health providers over IVR and WhatsApp for COVID, mental health and more. Built the workflow, actions and transitions on a RESTful state-machine service, plus Python scripts that provision workflows and test every state transition.

RF Traffic Logging

Built a feature into a smart-home controller that replaced a standalone RF sniffer: RF traffic logging can be turned on and off remotely, and the logs are captured and served over the network for root-cause analysis.

BACnet Servers on AWS

Ran BACnet servers in Docker containers on EC2, created and destroyed on demand, so physical hubs can be load-tested without hardware. The same client talks to both the cloud servers and physical BACnet servers.
